The Coming of Light

Even this late it happens:

the coming of love, the coming of light.

You wake and the candles are lit as if by themselves,

stars gather, dreams pour into your pillows,

sending up warm bouquets of air.

Even this late the bones of the body shine

and tomorrow's dust flares into breath

Analysis

The poem describes how light is on its way but first you must put your body to rest and go to sleep. As you fall asleep, it only means that love and light is getting closer. I am not sure what the bones of the body and tomorrow's dust flares into breath, but I am going to take a guess to it meaning something like tomorrows day will vanish before you know it but at night it is the time to shine, your love can be found in your dreams (coming of light).

Tuesday Quote

"It is difficult to get the news from poetry yet men die miserably everyday for lack of what is found there"

The quote basically explains that it is important to read poetry and that you need to read it. It provides feelings and emotions that people may not have expressed if it wasn't for the poetry. Overall, people should read poetry to understand others and write it to express themselves.

Show don't tell

I walk into a little boutique and I am looking in the cases, all holding astonishing items. The light hits this one piece at the right angle and catches my eye. I immediately ask to try it on. I slide it on my finger and it is a perfect fit. Right then I knew I needed to buy it. It rang up to be twenty-eight dollars. I wear it everyday and within the first day everyone was complimenting me on its shiny silver band that binds the stones together. It is now beginning to get worn and roughed up but, still each morning after my shower I slide its band back onto my finger. 

Why is grammar and mechanics important?

I believe grammar and mechanics are important when it comes to writing essays and other formal works. It is important because people need to make a habit of writing properly so when they are applying for a job or a college no "slang" is used. Also, proper grammar is important for writing an everyday essay or even a blog. If one practices using proper grammar and mechanics more often in their daily lives their writing will become better and will contain less fatal flaws.

My New Year's Resolution

This year I am not going to make my resolution to loose weight because that never works. However, I am going to try my best to not get so caught up on the little things. I will do my best to pick and choose my battles to hopefully make my life less stressful and make me happier as a person. I will attempt my goal by catching myself before I snap about something that won't matter in the end. If I do end up snapping I will keep a journal and write a brief apology to whomever it is but not show them. I will also write down what I could have done to better the situation. Hopefully if I catch myself enough times it will just become a habit of mine to be a more relaxed person overall.

My dream Job

My dream job would ultimately be a math professor at the University of Vermont. I love Vermont and I have always wanted to teach mathematics at a higher level. I put one and one together and got my idea of becoming a math professor at UVM. I love working with people and math amazes me because everything can be done in x amount of ways.

Parents Expectations vs. My own

My parents expectations for me vary. My mother just wants me to "follow my dreams" but she expects me to go through four years of college because she believes I am capable of doing so. However my dad wishes I put in the effort to my high school education in order to receive a large scholarship to a cheaper college. My expectations for my life are to complete a four -year college and get my doctorate in math. I want to become a teacher and what ever college I like the best is the one I will go to given I get accepted no matter the amount of money. I can always work of the debt I leave with college but you can't repeat your college life. Overall, my parents and my own expectations for my life are similar but have a slight difference.
